Hair Fair 2024 – Totals and Thanks to you all

Hair Fair 2024 Now Closed - Totals Info on Website

Hair Fair 2024 is now closed. We are so happy with how everyone embraced the new changes to the event, showcasing the talented creators with not only their exclusive items, but also previous releases that also donated. It gave people a real chance to see the creators work overall and to grab what they may have missed or coveted in the past, but also help Wigs for Kids while doing so, so thank you all.

Hair Fair donations by Participants (the percentage donated from each purchase) – L$3,593,499

Hair Fair Donations by Kiosks, Bandanas, Hair Wraps and Hair Fair Hares – L$280,350

Grand total – L$3,873,849

Donation amounts by participants start at 15% and go as high as 100%, so this total is fantastic when you consider that it is tens of thousands of micro transactions that make up this amount. Wigs for Kids will be very excited and as soon as the funds are processed and sent to them, they will follow up with thanks themselves and that information will be posted here.

Special Thanks from Hair Fair to:

Our Participants:

At Hair Fair this year, your involvement was truly fantastic! We can’t thank you enough for your kind donation to Wigs for Kids through a percentage of all your sales. Your generosity will have a positive impact on the lives of many deserving children.

We also loved seeing your support for fellow content creators at the event. By encouraging your customers to discover the work of other talented content creators, you provide a wonderful sense of community and collaboration within the Second Life hair and hair accessories/props/poses scene.

Bandana Creators/Contributors :

Thank you to everyone who decorated the bandanas for Hair Fair this year! Your creativity and generosity helped to raise a lot of money for Wigs for Kids. For those that added mesh work or sent their own unique mesh, thank you for the trust with your work.

Thank you to Mirja Mills who donated her hair wrap mesh to the committee to use internally to create additional options, it has been a lovely addition to our booths.

Thank you to Anya Ohmai and Mel Vanbeeck. Anya for creating the mascot Hair Fair Hare that we add to each year, which has become adorable collectibles for the event. Thank you to Mel for the base bandana that we use each and every year to decorate, and submit to be sold during the event, making it possible for anyone in the Second Life community to get artistic.

We also want to thank the customers who bought bandanas, hair wraps and Hair Fair Hares from the booths. Your purchases helped to make the event a success and raise money for a great cause.

Customers:

Hair Fair was a huge success thanks to you! Your presence and purchases made a real difference in raising funds for Wigs for Kids. The money will go a long way in helping children feel more confident and themselves.

We can’t thank you enough for spreading the word! Whether you brought your friends or explored the Fair with your alts, you helped reach a wider audience and build excitement for the cause. Your support is incredibly valuable, and we’re already looking forward to seeing you at next year’s Hair Fair!

Linden Lab:

Hair Fair’s success wouldn’t have been possible without Linden Lab and it’s incredible support! Their resources streamline event creation, allowing us to focus on the magic of Hair Fair.

Featuring Hair Fair in the Destination Guide and social media promotions amplifies our reach, attracting visitors from across Second Life.

We deeply appreciate your accessibility. Their willingness to interact and answer questions demonstrates genuine inclusion as an event that does something important on the grid.

Firestorm:

The MOTD team goes above and beyond every year! Their stellar promotion efforts, from creator sign-ups to event-long coverage, are a huge part of Hair Fair’s success. They truly embody the collaborative spirit of Second Life. With not only what they do for our event, but all year every year the MOTD is something that really keeps Second Life users on track for up and coming, as well as ongoing events.

A big thank you to the entire MOTD team! Working with them, year after year, is an absolute pleasure. Their dedication and professionalism are truly appreciated.

SugarSL, Essential Inventory and SeraphimSL

They all worked so hard on making sure that everyone knew that this event was coming. They advertisements and coverage leading up to it’s opening, during the event and those that provided or linked to a full gallery are so appreciated. We are incredibly grateful and it was an absolute pleasure working with their teams of people that make these sites possible. It was a great press team effort, they provided Hair Fair with coverage and we in return promoted their sites on our websites and throughout the event, so we hope you did save them as a bookmark for all the events they cover.

IheartSL:

They advertise the event on their blogger feed, that reaches many people leading up to and during the event, it is a fantastic resource for stores, bloggers and readers that want to know what is happening in Second Life, if you are a blogger that does not have their website feeding to it, fix that  so those of us that read it daily can see your work. If you are a store that wants to advertise contact them. They are the longest running Second Life feed and such a benefit to the community and Hair Fair each and every year. Thank you for what you do.

HairSL :

A group and website that shares Hair related activities and is also always very supportive of Hair Fair and allows us to promote the event through their platforms, we are very grateful for that, and to their team for the annual support.

Second Life Bloggers :

Hair Fair wouldn’t be complete without the incredible support of Second Life’s blogger community!

We’re especially grateful for our early access bloggers. Their passion for Hair Fair shines through their early promotion efforts, ensuring a wider audience from the get-go. Their participation is truly a gift.

Whether covering specific brands or showcasing purchased hair, bloggers like you bring Hair Fair to life! Your talent for highlighting items not only benefits Wigs for Kids, but strengthens the Hair Fair community as a whole. We’re blown away by the amazing pictures in the Hair Fair Flickr pool, contributed by many of you. You’ve captured the essence of the event and inspired countless visitors.

My Partner and my Mum:

Both of them do so much in the months leading up to and during the event. Mel is and has been the scripter, builder, and overall everything for 14+ years of the event. Without him we would not have most of the tools we use to make it possible year after year, he also keeps me very grounded.
My Mum is my world, she is always so supportive of me, but also so incredibly proud of everyone that does Hair Fair – she is that kind of Mum – she was sent pictures, shown everything as it happened, and just kept cheering us all on. She also understands how important it all is.

Thank you so much to everyone ♥
