Hair Fair 2009 Flickr Contest

Hair Fair 2009 Flickr Contest

The 4th annual Hair Fair will soon be under way from June 20, 2009 until July 4, 2009. We are very pleased to have over 100 participants this year, spreading across four sims. This year’s Hair Fair will be sponsored by Beta Technologies, who have donated the islands for this charity event. Hair Fair will once again donate proceeds to Locks of Love, an organization that donates wigs to children who suffer hair loss due to cancer, burns, and other conditions.

As part of the build-up to this anticipated annual event, we’re holding a photo contest at Flickr. Last year’s Flickr contest was so much fun that we hope everyone will want to participate again. This year’s Flickr contest begins June 1 and ends June 15 at midnight SLT.

The Rules:

1. Be creative, but remember we’re looking for pictures that focus on the hair and you.

2. Feel free to enhance your shot in your photo editing program of choice, but don’t include any text or brands/logos. We don’t want to see vendor images here or store logos in the background for example. Just remember this isn’t an advertisement but a tribute to hair that you love.

3. Keep your photos at 512 pixels by 512 pixels square and tag all photos Hair Fair 2009.

4. Photos may only be entered once, and only the person entering the photo is eligible to win. The same photo may not be entered by more than one person. You must have full ownership rights to the photo you are entering. If it was taken by someone else, then you must be allowed to use it in this manner. Check with the photographer before entering because any disputes of ownership of a photo will result in disqualification.

5. Entrants are limited to a total of 10 entries.

6. In the description of each photo you enter, please include:

* Your Second Life avatar name

* Model

* Photographer

* Hair Style Name and Store

7. All photos must be entered by Midnight SLT on June 15th.

8. Winners will be announced just prior to the start of Hair Fair with all winners receiving a special VIP invitation to Hair Fair before it opens its doors to the public. Winning photos will also be featured at Hair Fair.

9. No Nudity. This is a charity event to raise money for children. Naked pictures and pictures that the committee deem inappropriate will not be accepted. The committee’s say on this is final.

You do not have to show hair that is made only by designers participating in Hair Fair 2009.  You may choose to showcase past designers who have left Second Life, designers just starting out, or even hair you or a friend made.

  1. Ivory, the rule does not say it is harmful or shameful.

    “9. No Nudity, this is a charity event to raise money for Children, naked pictures and pictures that the committee deem inappropriate will not be accepted, the committee’s say on this is final.”

    Tastefully done nudes are really not the appropriate place for an event raising money for a charity dedicated to children. We are respecting what the charity stands for.

    As a naturist I have to object to the concept that non-sexual nudity is harmful to childen. There is nothing shameful about the human body. It is a work of God and should be respected as such.
