A reminder and some more information about the Hair Fair Photo Contest that is now taking place.

The theme is “Movies that Inspire Me“, please try and focus as much attention to the hair as possible, as this is an event for the upcoming Hair Fair, and we want all the hair to have as much attention as it deserves.

Some answers to some questions that have come up over the past two weeks - 

* You can wear any hair that you own, it does not have to be a store that is in this years Hair Fair, as we do not reveal that list until the event is about to begin. We just want this contest to be a celebration of hair, and hair creations.

* Text is not allowed on the images unless it is your avatar name, discreetly in the bottom left or right of your image.

* The image has to have been taken since the contest started, so any pictures dated or proven to have been taken prior to 7th June will not be valid.

* You cannot use images that have been entered in another event/contest as your contest entry. ( This is a huge prize pool and the people donating deserve your best effort for their contest alone, please make sure that you are entering a NEW and this contest focused entry)

* You can enter more than once, we have it set so that you can enter up to 8 images for the contest, so please do not feel that entering more than once is not allowed or in any way too much…you never know which picture will appeal to the judges.

* If your images are larger than the sizes suggested in the rules, that is ok, those numbers are a suggestion only as they are the numbers that uploading them into Second Life will produce. Please be sure to make your image larger than 512 x 512 though, otherwise they will look pixelated, and it is in world that they will be judged.

However, as in previous years, ONLY THE PERSON ENTERING THE PHOTOGRAPH IS ELIGIBLE TO WIN. This years contest will run from the 7th June – 28th June 2013

Examples : Sci-fi, Black & White, Romantic Comedy, Anime, Horror, Country & Western, Thriller, Action, Drama

*No Nudity or sexualy suggestive images, this is a charity event to raise money for Children, naked/revealing pictures and pictures that the committee deem inappropriate will not be accepted, the committee’s say on this is final.

Be creative, but remember we are looking for pictures that focus on the hair and you. PHOTOS SUBMITTED TO THIS POOL MUST HAVE BEEN UPLOADED SINCE THE START OF THE CONTEST, PHOTOS OLDER THAN THE START WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, we want fresh focus and definite passion for this event, and this event only.

2. Feel free to enhance your shot in the photo editing program of choice. We don’t want to see vendor images here or store logos in the background for example. Just remember this isn’t an advertisement but a tribute to hair that you love.Also be aware that we wont be judging your photos on how little or much you know of PS or GIMP, rather the feel of the picture and the capture itself.That being said, please do not “over process”, we want to be able see the hair! – if you must put your name on your images please be sure to make it small and discreet in the bottom left or right of the photo…anything business focussed will not be accepted, names of avatar only.

3. Keep your photos in Second Life size format. Second Life will distort your images when uploaded into SL, and we do not want to have your images look all out of focus in the winners circle if picked.

4. Photos may only be entered once, and only the person entering the photo is eligible to win. The same photo may not be entered by more than one person. You must have full ownership rights to the photo you are entering. If it was taken by someone else, then you must be allowed to use it in this manner. Check with the photographer before entering because any disputes of ownership of a photo will result in disqualification.

5. Entrants are limited to a total of 8 entries. Enter only your very best photos, as swapping out will not be allowed. We will be keeping track of who enters what, and swapping out your photos after submission will result in your disqualification. We want to make it fair to everyone.

6. In the description of each photo you enter, please include:
* Your Second Life avatar name ( no display names, if your last name is Resident please include that )
* Model/s
* Photographer
* Hair Style Name and Store ( the store does not have to be in Hair Fair 2013 )
* Inspiration Movie ?

7. All photos must be entered by Midnight SLT on 28th June, at that time uploads will be disabled.

8. Winners will be announced just prior to the start of Hair Fair with all winners receiving a special VIP invitation to Hair Fair before it opens its doors to the public.
Winning photos will also be featured at Hair Fair.
First, Second and Third Prize winners will receive prizes from all stores listed, this is a HUGE prize pool.
Seven runners up will also be given early access to Hair Fair 2013, as well as having their photos on display at the event.

You may also showcase past designers who have left Second Life, designers just starting out, or even hair you or a friend made.

All photos will be moderated before being approved into the group pool, please be patient as we are all on different timezones, but the pool will be checked daily. If your photo does not appear after 24 hours, please check that all the rules have been followed..thank you

The judges decisions are final

Prizes cannot be exchanged, negotiated or sent to avatars other than the winners.

Each year we call out to the large community of Second Life to help us help Wigs for Kids. On the last day of Hair Fair we have Bandana Day, the day where we remove our hair to show we care, in support of those that have lost hair, or suffer from hair loss. Every year people from all over, not just the Hair Community, submit to use their bandanas they have made from the kits we provide, and they are then sold at 50L each (transferable) during Hair Fair on all four sims.

We have raised hundreds of extra USD each year with these bandanas, and it is also a great way to share and show community spirit, as people share their reasons behind wanting to help, as well as their creativity, and fun. The Bandanas have become almost collectable, with many people through the years telling me they have them from every year, or they wear them when they are at laggy events and so on.

This year with the help and talent of Mel Vanbeeck we have our first ever MESH Bandana, with baked shading textures, so they look even better, and can be easily textured as the UV’s were made with a perfect square texture in mind. If you would like a Kit , please contact Sasy Scarborough in world.

The bandanas need to be sent back to CharitySasy String full perms by the 3rd of July…so you will need to make sure you have all the rights to use the items you decorate with. Then the perms will be set for sale. All bandanas will only be dealt with on that one account by one member of the Hair Fair committee.

We are about to begin the Official Hair Fair Photo Contest, for Hair Fair 2013. We wanted to give you enough notice, as the contest starts on the 7th. You can upload up to 8 entries, and entries close 28th of June. There are no ‘Official Hair Fair Bloggers” this is only access so that bloggers can help us spread the word to their readership and promote the event, take pictures of the event location and gather any information that will help them do so…if you are not given early access but wish to communicate this information with press kits, please contact Sasy Scarborough…thank you again for everything you do that helps us help Wigs for Kids.

This is a preview event only, we do not have bloggers packs at the event, it is a day where bloggers get together and post on the upcoming event, styles and what it is Hair Fair does for Wigs for Kids.
